Managing AI Agent Permissions and Automation

StoreEngine allows your AI Agents to assist with routine business operations while keeping important decisions under your control.

Your available settings may depend on the type of agent, the connected store, and the permissions supported by that platform.

Approval-Based Work

With approval-based work, the agent prepares an action and waits for you to review it.

This is useful for:

  • New accounts
  • Marketing campaigns
  • Product or price changes
  • Public-facing content
  • Sensitive customer situations
  • Actions you want to inspect personally

Automated Work

When automation is enabled for an eligible task, the agent may complete routine work without waiting for approval each time.

This is best suited for actions that follow clear rules, such as:

  • Routine customer answers based on your policies
  • Approved follow-up sequences
  • Scheduled reporting
  • Repetitive store-maintenance tasks

Choosing the Right Level of Control

Use approval-based settings when:

  • You are still learning how an agent works
  • Your policies change frequently
  • The action could affect pricing or customer expectations
  • You want to review every public message

Consider automation when:

  • Your instructions and policies are complete
  • The task is routine and low risk
  • You have reviewed previous results
  • You are comfortable allowing the agent to act within defined limits

Review Permissions Regularly

Check your settings after:

  • Connecting a new store
  • Changing a policy
  • Adding a new team member
  • Launching a major promotion
  • Changing the type of products you sell

StoreEngine agents do not receive your customers’ raw payment-card information. Payments remain with your connected payment provider.
